He is saying that if you do this without simultaneously dropping boost levels you will harm the motor. The main point is dropping boost levels. The reason JWT does not change the safety map from the primary map is because they are assuming that the end user has disabled the stock boost solenoids rendering the ECU useless to drop the boost in 'safety mode.' The average leadfoot Z owner who buys their chip probably won't recognize the sound of detonation. So if/when detonation does occur, they probably WON'T get out of the throttle (essentially dropping boost levels). If said end user stays on the gas at 15psi and the timing all of a sudden retards while detonation is occuring...kablooey! The stock ECU retards timing in the safety map IN CONJUNCTION with dropping the boost level. Thats why it works as it does. Now, I am not nor do I claim to be an ECU tuning expert. I am still learning and am taking in info all the time. This is my view on the facts as I have taken in and processed the information on both sides. The one thing about Greg's posts you have not addressed is boost levels and that is the key to his information. Why do you keep avoiding that? And why does it always boil down to a pissing match with you? We are finally having a grownup, highly informational post about a popular topic, and you once again have reduced it to an "I'm better than you because I say so" post.
